Tonge had seven winners away at Rhodes but Hebers went one better at Simpson Memorial returning eight winning cards. Graham Flint’s 21-4 was the best for Hebers and Ged Smedley’s 21-6 Tonge’s best. Nimble Nook had only four winners at home to The Grove but thanks to a 21-4 from Gordon Tomkinson and Bob Nisbet’s 21-6 they took the aggregate by three chalks, 160-157. Cheetham Hill CC ‘A’ returned seven winning cards at home to Higher Blackley Cons for a convincing 191-155 aggregate win. Alan Derench’s 21-6 was the best result for Cheetham Hill.

Millbeck and Middleton Cons shared the aggregate 164 each resulting in the unusually pts score of 7½ each. Millbeck had six individual winners, the best being John Hynes’ 21-6 whilst Dave Callaghan’s 21-2 was the best for Middleton Cons. Cheetham Hill CC ‘B’ had seven winners at the Ash, who have had to transfer their ‘home’ match to Brassey St. due to their own green at Aspinall St. being unavailable. Cheetham Hill’s best result was a 21-8 from Mel Solomons.
